Animoca-Backed Moca Chain Announces Q4 Mainnet Launch with Focus on Digital Identity
Moca Foundation, affiliated with Animoca Brands' Mocaverse ecosystem, is preparing to launch Moca Chain—a Layer 1 blockchain designed as a cross-chain identity verification system. The network's native MOCA token will power a modular, EVM-compatible architecture aimed at wresting control of user data from tech giants like Google and Meta.
"Our digital identity is all over the place right now," said Animoca co-founder Yat Siu during a recent X Space discussion. The chain positions itself as a decentralized alternative to centralized data silos, offering both identity management and storage solutions akin to emerging protocols like Walrus.
A testnet rollout is slated for Q3 2024, with mainnet deployment expected by year-end. The project signals growing institutional interest in blockchain-based identity solutions as regulatory pressure mounts on traditional data custodians.
